Gli Angeli dell’Elevatio animae
Unknown to critics untill the mid-twenthieth century, the two Angels holding drapery by the master of Siena Tino di Camaino were part of the bishop Antonio d’Orso’s burial monument in the Florence Cathedral. Together with the lost central panel the two angels composed a very balanced, triangular structured group of the Elevatio animae.
The two wonderful marble reliefs, belonged to the Torrigiani collection, are dominated by an oblique movement direction, and they seem kneeling, outstretched one towards another, arranged in a perfect simmetric way.
